Project Wedding – THE Dress and our HONEYMOON

I’m REALLY excited to write THIS post. The super fun parts of our wedding planning have been made these past few weeks (Mostly, this past week in particular!)

There are two things I get asked after people learn our wedding date. A) Have I found my dress? B) Where’s the honeymoon! Well — this week we plunged head first into both of these! I finally have answers for people. Yes, I FOUND MY DRESS (yep, you read that correctly!) and YES we know where we’re going for our honeymoon. (insert really high pitched squeal here)

Yesterday I took a trip to Bowie to visit with my family to be and so that I could do what was supposed to just be an initial try on/browse/narrow down a STYLE of dress. I walked into David’s Bridal thinking two things A) OMG I’m going to look like an awkward oompa loompa in these gowns IM SO NERVOUS B) It’s David’s Bridal, just look how BRIGHT it is… I’m probably not going to find what I want, and if I do it’ll probably be in the Vera Wang section.

I’m really pleased to say that neither of those statements were true. Or were they? You be the judge ;) (sorry the dress I’ve chosen is not being revealed :P )

This might be my favorite photo of me, of all time, ever.

I knew that I wouldn’t ever like myself in a ball gown or anything with a poof.. I’m just not that kind of girl… Not to mention the fact that my broad shoulders and flat chest don’t exactly give me the best body for a big poofy gown without making me look twice my weight. Plus, I want to be comfortable… So my sights were always set on a sheath style dress. ANYWAY – I really wanted a picture of me sitting in one of those big poofy skirts. Just to laugh at. So, there you have it. ^ (HI MOM! Please don’t cry! xoxo)

Ready to see me look more girly than you most likely EVER will?

I love love love love love the waist up of this dress...

Then THIS happens..... o.O Seriously that dress was SO freaking heavy. I would have tripped on my face down the aisle

Am I the bride or the Flower Girl???

Truth be told, if this were in a bold color, I would totally rock that to all the Summer weddings I’m attending this wedding season! However, It comes to about my lower calf and makes me look 12…. haha. If anyone is looking for a flower girl, just let me know ;)

This was my #1 pick until I found THE. ONE. (also note, The route I run clearly gets more sun on my right side....)

I'm COMPLETELY against Veils. The meaning behind them is awful, however I look pretty adorable in this one. So that thought may just have to be adjusted ;)

Last but not least – I loved the beading on this dresss….

see LOVELY beading, but then it falls in an awkward way that makes me look like a maternity bride, or like I have the hips and waist of a whale....

The funny thing is, the dress I ended up falling in love with – was a dress that I didn’t even pick out! My consultant was going through the racks trying to find some of the dresses I had saved online and snagged it because she thought I would look great in it… Well, I must say the woman is fantastic at her job because she nailed it RIGHT on the head. As soon as I put it on, I FELT amazing. There are no mirrors in the fitting room, you have to walk out into the mirror covered room, and before I even walked out there I felt like it was the one. Then everyone in the room – who were all strangers except for the one person I had gone with looked at me with huge grins and I even got a “OH MY” from a complete stranger… and I turned around to face the mirror. It was PERFECT…

But I know, If I’m not going to SHOW you the dress, just shut up and get to the fun part right? The honeymoon…

However, I’m sorry to say that at this moment in time I am only going to tease you with the details of that too. SOME of you already know part of the plan, since I sort of spilled the beans during the last #FitBlog chat to some of my favorite fit ladies… But that was only PART of the plan.

I will however tell you this: It will consist of 2 countries (none of which are USA), two continents… A half-marathon and a hike of a LIFETIME. It will certainly be a FitFluential honeymoon ;)

Now, the hard part – keeping my mouth shut about my wedding dress until the big day comes. (THIS may easily be the hardest part of the whole “wedding planning”)
